Chenguang (Todd) Wang is a filmmaker who sees writing, production design, and cinematography as different ways of telling the same thing: stories about people. His work often explores psychological wounds, family relationships, and the private obsessions that shape human behavior.

Todd often begins with images before words. He visualizes scenes while writing and develops them through storyboards, approaching directing almost like drawing a story before bringing it into the physical world. He is particularly interested in how spaces, objects, color, and composition can reveal a character’s inner life.

His films tend toward darker, atmospheric worlds that do not reveal themselves all at once. Rather than explaining everything immediately, he hopes to leave audiences with details to piece together—until seemingly small choices begin to connect, and something familiar emerges from what first felt strange.
